First photos of terrible accident near US Embassy in Sarajevo: One person dies as tram derails

One person was killed and at least two were injured today in a traffic accident that happened near the US embassy in Sarajevo when a tram derailed.

The tram, which was traveling from the railway station towards Bascarsija, derailed at the intersection near the National Museum and ended up on the road.

Photos taken at the scene show the debris caused by the accident. The tram ended up on the street, a tram stop was also damaged, and emergency services were on the ground.

According to official information from police, one person was killed.

"In a tram accident that happened in the area of the Center, one person was killed. Two people were injured, according to current data. The prosecutor has been informed," Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry spokesperson Mersiha Novalic told Klix.ba.

The main road is closed and vehicles are being rerouted.
