NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia) has submitted a new request to the US Treasury Department for the issuance of a special license that enables the company's operational activities to be carried out smoothly after February 20, when the previous license expires, the company announced today.

The request was submitted on February 12, NIS stated.

In the request, NIS emphasizes the importance of the company carrying out regular work for the economy of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the ongoing negotiations to change the ownership structure, stating that the extension of the operating license would provide a necessary time frame for interested parties to finalize these talks.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department previously issued a license to shareholders and interested parties to negotiate changes in the NIS ownership structure that is valid until March 24.

The statement added that NIS is grateful to all domestic and foreign institutions that support the efforts to allow the company to operate smoothly.
