President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that there is still not confirmation that the US OFAC will extend the operating license of NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia) beyond March 20.

"It's a very complicated, very complex and very difficult situation for us. A few key things. You know that this evening or tomorrow morning, a decision will be made about a potential extension of the NIS license that the US OFAC is making. We have no confirmation that OFAC will make such a decision. We have no confirmation that the decision will be positive and we do not know if it will be," Vucic told reporters in the town of Indjija, where he was visiting on Thursday.

According to the president, "everyone can imagine what kind of problems would arise for us if OFAC's decision is negative."

"And two, in four days, the deadline expires according to which NIS must be taken over, that is, a commercial contract must be made - according to what OFAC said regarding the sanctions against NIS - between the Hungarian company MOL and the Russian Gazprom," Vucic said, and concluded:

"We have no confirmation whether that will happen or not. We hope so. We are working on it, we are talking to our partners, today I also spoke with Viktor Orban about everything, but I can tell you more about that."
