President Aleksandar Vucic visits UAE and meets with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic spent Sunday on a visit to Abu Dhabi where he met with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

After the King of Jordan and the President of Egypt, Vucic was the third foreign and the first European leader to visit the Emirates since the war broke out in the Middle East.

"(I am) on a several-hour, unannounced, but important visit to the United Arab Emirates. I am especially grateful to the president of the UAE, Mohamed bin Zayed, for welcoming and seeing me off at the airport and thus showing great respect for our country. During the meeting, I once again expressed the strongest condemnation of the attacks on the UAE, and Serbia's full solidarity with the friendly people of the Emirates in these difficult and worrying circumstances. At a time when the Middle East is facing serious challenges, and the consequences of the conflict and instability far exceed that region, it is important to support friends clearly, but also responsibility in seeking a path to peace and stability," Vucic stated in a caption to a post on Instagram, and added:

"We also exchanged opinions regarding our bilateral relations based on mutual trust, respect and concrete results. I particularly stressed that Serbia wants to continue to develop comprehensive cooperation with the UAE, from investments and energy to new technologies and development projects, but also to preserve political dialogue at the highest level, which is extremely important during times like these. Serbia extremely appreciates the support and stance shown by the UAE towards our country, especially the willingness to, even in complex global circumstances, jointly look for new solutions and strengthen cooperation in areas of strategic importance. I am convinced that the friendship we have built over the years represents a solid foundation for the further connections between our countries and peoples.

I am grateful to President Mohamed bin Zayed for his warm hospitality, open and meaningful conversation, as well as his stance towards Serbia. In difficult times like these, it is important to have friends who understand the gravity of the moment, but also the importance of peace, stability and cooperation for the future of our nations."
