Pancevo Bridge is once again scene of dramatic event: Renato Grbic rescues 35th person from Danube in Belgrade
The famous Belgrade restaurateur and fisherman, Renato Grbic, once again showed extraordinary courage and humanity, when he rescued a man (58), who had jumped into the cold Danube from the Pancevo Bridge.
According to initial information obtained by Telegraf.rs, the man jumped into the river for unknown reasons, but thanks to Grbic's quick reaction, a tragedy was avoided.
Rento Grbic pulled the man to the river bank and provided first aid, after which he transported to the hospital.
Telegraf.rs has learned that this is the 35th life that Renato Grbic has saved during his long-lasting "mission" on the Danube, which has been ongoing for more than two and a half decades, once again confirming his status as the silent hero of Belgrade.
Meanwhile, an initiative has been launched on social media to award this brave man a national (state) pension, in recognition of his selflessness and the many rescues he has carried out over the past 26 years. The initiative received great support from citizens, who believe that Grbic's actions deserve institutional recognition and gratitude.
