FM Marko Djuric and India's External Affairs Secretary Sibi George discuss strengthening cooperation
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric today met with Indian Secretary (West) in Ministry of External Affairs Sibi George, who is in Serbia for the 9th bilateral political consultations between the two ministries.
Djuric said that Serbia is firmly committed to further strengthening comprehensive cooperation with India, along with intensifying political dialogue and contacts at the highest levels.
He welcomed regular political consultations and assessed that they represent an important mechanism for improving bilateral relations and give a new impetus to their further development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Djuric expressed his satisfaction with the recent visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to India and his participation in the Artificial Intelligence Summit in New Delhi, stressing that Serbia in that way confirmed its strong commitment to developing this sector, including the presentation of the national potential at the highest level.
Djuric also spoke about the recent meeting he had with Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Munich and said he hoped Jaishankar would visit Serbia soon.
The head of Serbian diplomacy expressed Serbia's gratitude for India's consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, as well as for the principled position not to recognize unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, along with the belief that this position will remain unchanged.
Speaking about economic cooperation, Djuric pointed out that Serbia is an economically stable country, focused on dynamic development and significant investments in infrastructure, and that in this context he sees significant room to improve cooperation with India.
Djuric thanked India for confirming its participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, assessing that this will represent a significant contribution to further strengthening of bilateral relations, as well as an opportunity for India to present its potential to the wider international public.
