Partizan Belgrade issues statement regarding Trump's envoy: "Club's management was not officially informed"
Paolo Zampolli, a special envoy of US President Donald Trump, has visited Belgrade, and on that occasion wanted to see the Partizan football club's Trophy Room in Humska Street.
The club has now issued a statement to say that this businessman did not visit the premises in his official capacity, and that the Partizan management was not officially informed about this.
We carry the statement in its entirety:
"In relation to inaccurate and tendentious information that appeared in some media, which refer to the visit of Donald Trump envoy's visit to our club, FC Partizan points out that the club's management was not officially informed about the arrival of Mr. Paolo Zampolli, and therefore there was no need for an official welcome.
Mr. Zampolli visited the Partizan MMA club, after which he expressed his desire to visit the Trophy Room of Partizan FC. His request was immediately accepted, and he was allowed to visit the club's premises.
We believe that there is no need to make a case out of an informal visit and spread sensationalist narratives that do not contribute to informing the public in a truthful manner.
Partizan FC is appealing on the media to demonstrate a responsible and professional approach and do their reporting in line with the facts, without unnecessary dramatizations.
Once again, we point out that allegations that any guest has been ignored or disrespected are absolutely unfounded."
Zampolli is also supposed to be in the VIP box during the second half of the match between Partizan and Red Star basketball clubs.
Donald Trump's confidante and longtime friend is an Italian businessman and diplomat, who is also known as the founder of the ID Models agency.
