Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic today congratulated Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army General Milan Mojsilovic and all members of the Serbian Army on April 23, Serbian Army Day, and pointed out that the country's military represents a strong and reliable pillar of security and peace, a symbol of the state's strength and reliance for all citizens.

"On the occasion of April 23, the Day of the Serbian Army, I send sincere congratulations to all members of our army, with deep respect for your preparedness, discipline, courage and dedication. Today, the Serbian Army represent a strong and reliable pillar of security and peace of our country, a symbol of the strength of the state and reliance for all citizens. Your level of training, professionalism and readiness is to respond effectively to modern security challenges every day, both regarding the daily tasks in the country, as well as in international missions and joint exercises," the Serbian president stated.

Vucic added that the Republic of Serbia remains committed to further developing and strengthening the army, aware of its key importance for the security, stability and progress of the country.

He stressed that Serbia, through continuous investment in equipment, infrastructure, training and improvement of the living standard of the members of the Serbian Army, shows a permanent determination towards a building stronger and more efficient defense system, as well as creating better conditions for life and professional development.

"I congratulate you the holiday, confident that, safeguarding what has shaped us throughout history and relying on knowledge, modern standards and modernization, we will continue to build a strong Serbian Army in the interest of the state and future generations. Long live the Serbian Army! Long live Serbia!," Vucic concluded.

Serbian Army Day is celebrated on April 23, in commemoration of the day when the Second Serbian Uprising against Ottoman Turk occupiers started in 1815, which marked a turning point in the restoration of the Serbian state, and of its army.
