Serbian FM Marko Djuric meets with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoye

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric has met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with whom he discussed strengthening the ties between Belgrade and Tashkent and bringing the two countries and two peoples closer together.

Stating that bilateral relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan are traditionally good, friendly and without any open issues, Djuric conveyed Serbia's clear determination to continue and expand this cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The two officials also referred to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's visit to Uzbekistan last year, noting the strong momentum that it brought to mutual relations. During the meeting, Minister Djuric extended President Vucic's invitation to President Mirziyoyev to visit Serbia.

Djuric stressed the two countries share very close position on many important international issues, therefore, maintaining and strengthening political dialogue at all levels is of great importance.

The head of Serbian diplomacy thanked Uzbekistan for its support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

Speaking about economic relations, Djuric stated that Uzbekistan, as a rapidly growing economy, is an important partner of Serbia in that part of the world, and that there is a clear intention to further develop cooperation, increase overall trade and strengthen the connection between the two economies. To this end, he pointed out, Serbia and Uzbekistan recently signed an agreement on economic cooperation.

The minister added that Serbia highly values ​​the fact Uzbekistan has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, stressing that, as the host, "we will do our best to present this country of rich culture and history in the best possible way."
