The Serbian National Assembly late on Wednesday rejected the opposition's motion for a no-confidence against the Government of Serbia. 40 deputies voted in favor of the motion, 135 were against, while one of the 175 deputies present in the hall abstained.

Prime Minister Djuro Macut said in his closing address to the Assembly that the work of the Government will be judged exclusively by its results, rather that political debates, because responsibility towards citizens is the only measure of the success of any government.

Prime Minister Macut pointed out that the Government took responsibility in one of the most difficult moments for the country, when the priority was to preserve peace, stability and the functioning of institutions, and added that dialogue, responsibility and willingness to talk were key in solving the most complex social issues.

He recalled that in previous months, economic stability was preserved, investments continued and new jobs were created, including investments in education, health, infrastructure and social welfare programs, as Serbia continued to lead a responsible and balanced foreign policy, strengthening its international position.

Macut said that the Government remains committed to working in the interest of all citizens of Serbia, with the belief that the challenges can be faced exclusively through responsible policy, concrete measures and a clear development plan.

According to the prime minister, the Government's priorities in the coming period will remain to preserve peace and stability, further economic growth, improve the standard of living, and continuing the dialogue, while making decisions that are in the best interest of Serbia.

Macut said that the Government will continue to lead Serbia responsibly, in a stable manner, and with a clear vision of the future.
