FM Djuric speaks with his Romanian colleague about current situation on the Danube

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric spoke on the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Oana Toiu about the current situation on the Danube caused by extremely low water levels, and about the possibilities for coordinated action between the two countries in order to mitigate the consequences for navigation, the economy and the functioning of river traffic.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Djuric and Toiu emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the competent institutions of Serbia and Romania in monitoring the situation and taking measures that will contribute to preserving safety of navigation and the smooth functioning of traffic on the Danube.

The traditionally good and friendly relations between Serbia and Romania were also confirmed, as well as the mutual commitment to further improvement through intensive political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The ministers also discussed the possibilities for reestablishing the cross-border railway connection between Serbia and Romania, which would make a significant contribution to better connectivity and strengthening of economic cooperation.
