Vucic: SNS candidate for president will be announced after parliamentary elections
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) presidential candidate will be known after parliamentary elections, as well as that there will be many strong candidates, and mentioned SPS leader Ivica Dacic among them.
"There will be a strong candidate, as well as many others. There will be many candidates, and there will be many strong candidates, we'll see who wins," Vucic said during a tour of the plastic packaging production company SZR Kesa in Pejkovac, when journalists asked him to comment on the fact he will not be able to run for president in the next elections, as well as the news that the SPS candidate might be Ivica Dacic.
Vucic also said that he is not against it.
"Snow doesn't fall to cover the hill, but for each animal to show its tracks. And I'm always satisfied. And unlike others, I will neither say big words, nor bad or ugly words. Far from it. I think that people understood everything, I think that everything is clear to them," added Vucic.
He also stated that earlier, there had been rumors that he was preparing to change the Constitution so that he could continue as president.
"I told them a thousand times that they are lying, I told them a thousand times that I respect the Constitution, that the Constitution is sacred to me, that for me the Constitution is sacred above all else. They were not interested," he said.
Vucic said that he believes that after the parliamentary elections there will be enough time for the campaign for the presidential elections, at least two months, because "the people will be fed up with all of us and the campaign."
He also stated that his political opponents asked for parliamentary elections and that they will get them.
"Now that you tell them, almost exactly to the day when the elections will be held, we're fed up with it, we will, we won't... You (his political opponents) asked for early elections, you will get early elections, even though you did not give us early elections (during previous authorities). And we have no problem with that, and we will see who will win," Vucic said, adding:
"So, it's up to me to work, to fight, proud of every kilometer of the roads built, proud of every railroad, every science and technology park, every hall, hospital, healthcare center, everything we have done and built. And I will continue to fight with the same energy."
According to Vucic in the upcoming elections, there will be "blockaders" plus all other political parties, and on the other hand, there will be "Unified Serbia".
"You will have all of them on one side, all the blockaders, plus all other political parties, including the SPS, and on the other, you will have the list of 'Unfied Serbia' - so there you go, choose," added Vucic.
