We visited grave of Ratko Mladic three weeks after the funeral: This is what we encountered

Three weeks after the funeral of the former commander of the Army of the Serb Republic (VRS), Ratko Mladic, his grave is still visited by a large number of people. Our team visited his resting place, where we found a scene that testifies to the daily and mass visits.

The tombstone is almost completely hidden under a large amount of fresh flowers, numerous wreaths and hundreds of lighted candles that are constantly left by visitors. The area around the burial place itself is full of symbols and flower arrangements.

Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life in prison by the ICTY in The Hague, was laid to rest exactly three weeks ago. The funeral took place in the presence of family members, friends, and a large number of citizens who came to pay their last respects.

The day of the funeral itself was marked by strong security measures and huge media attention.

The cemetery was full of people, long lines of those who silently waited to approach the grave site formed. The current scenes from the cemetery show that the intensity of the visits has not decreased even 20 days later.
