KFOR: UK infantry personnel, equipment and vehicles deployed in Pristina

Personnel, equipment and vehicles from the 1st UK Infantry Battalion have joined the KFOR forces in Pristina, as part of a previously scheduled and routine deployment, KFOR has announced.

It is stated that they will take part in several training activities over the next six weeks, as part of permanent contribution of the United Kingdom to the NATO-led KFOR mission (in Kosovo and Metohija).

"The deployment of this battalion from the United Kingdom does not represent a change in KFOR's mandate, and it is not part of the process to optimize KFOR's position," the statement said.

It recalled that KFOR "continues to contribute to maintaining a safe environment for all people living in Kosovo", as well as freedom of movement, under the mandate of the United Nations based on Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council, adopted in 1999.

The statements adds that the battalion will work "impartially, at all times and in close cooperation with the Kosovo police and the European Union Mission".
