At least 7 people injured in 14-car pile-up near Simanovci that was caused by smoke

A pile-up involving 14 vehicles took place today on the road between Pecinci and Simanovci, and Telegraf has learned that at least seven people were injured.

As the police in Sremska Mitrovica confirmed for Telegraf.rs, the pile-up occurred a little before 10:00 hours, and according to initial information, seven people were transported by ambulances to hospitals in Belgrade. It is not ruled out that there are more injured.

Traffic was stopped, and vehicles were diverted to alternative routes this morning.

The police were at the scene and the investigation was still ongoing before noon.

According to initial information, the accident is suspected to have occurred because of reduced visibility due to smoke from a fire in nearby fields.
