The windows on the building of the Assembly building of the provisional Pristina institutions were broken during today's protest staged by supporters of the so-called KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") and they were still blocking the entrance as of the early afternoon.

The protesters are demanding that the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague be adopted in the second reading.

Some of the demonstrators tried to enter the building, according to RTK.

Although the Assembly adopted the Draft in the first reading, the organizers said that the protest will continue until the proposal is adopted in the second reading and that no deputy will be able to leave the Assembly building before then.

The draft foresees the narrowing of the jurisdiction of the Specialist Chambers, the shortening of the maximum sentence that can be imposed, the change of the place where the convicted will serve their sentence, and introduces the possibility of pardon.

The proposal was submitted by the Democratic Party of Kosovo after the Specialist Chambers on September 16 found four former leaders of the so-called KLA guilty of war crimes and sentenced them to a total of 81 years in prison.

In Pristina, all political parties and the public, regardless of disagreements on other issues, assessed the verdict of the Specialist Chambers as "unjust" and launched a systematic campaign to support those convicted of war crimes.

At the same time, the Democratic Party of Kosovo set the adoption of the draft amendments as a condition for discussions about electing the president of the provisional institutions in Pristina, who must be elected by tomorrow, or the Assembly will be dissolved and snap elections called.
