"That is the most important thing": Vucic announces healthcare reform plan, new medicines and hospitals

Aleksandar Vucic, the leader of the "Aleksandar Vucic - United Serbia" election list, announced large investments in the healthcare system, stressing that health is the most important thing.

"If I receive your trust to become the prime minister of Serbia, you will all get new or completely reconstructed hospitals and healthcare centers. And we will invest this money ourselves. We will fight for the life of every child and every elderly person, and you will soon see new medicines, that cost the state tens and hundreds of millions of euros," said Vucic, and added:

"If necessary, we will pay even more, because the health of our people is the most important thing."

He also spoke yesterday about the planned investments in the healthcare system, as well as about things that must be corrected.

"I was in Zrenjanin, where there is an MRI that allegedly breaks down every three days. I accept that I am to blame for that, we invested hundreds of millions of euros in the Clinical Center of Serbia. Tirsova 2 with the equipment will cost us almost 200 million. Bojic's clinic 250 million. The Clinical Center in Nis the same. We did Leskovac, Vranje, it's not enough, I was wrong, 10 million should have been given to each place, so that there would be an MRI in each place. Scanners, mammograms, for all to have the same service," he emphasized.

He added that every healthcare center must be clean and have those three devices, and that doctors working in smaller communities must be paid extra.

Significant investments in the healthcare system are also planned for the south of Serbia.

"We will invest over 1.3 billion euros in just two, two and a half years in order to complete all 69 basic, essential, of basic importance health facilities in the territory of 60 municipalities and cities throughout Serbia and thereby change the image of our healthcare completely," pointed out Vucic.

According to the plan he presented, investments would cover different levels of healthcare, from healthcare centers and maternity hospitals to hospitals and clinical-hospital centers.
