Speleologist and diver from Poland Ksistof Starnawski will try to beat the record of the Italian diver Luigi Cazati, who managed to go in 2010 to the depth of 212 meters in underwater cave Vrelo on the lake Matka, not far from Skopje

With the diving team of "Akvatek" club and speleologist club "Vrelo", Stranwaski has been preparing to dive in one of the deepest underwater caves in the world.

In July 2010, Italian diver Luigi Kazati managed to go to the depth of 212 meters. His hand reflector exploded duo to high pressure, so he had to dive out.

- When the battery exploded, i got scared and i decided to dive out, said at the time Luigi.

At a depth of 212 meters it is revealed that the underwater cave on Matka is divided into two branches, but he could not see any further because of poor visibility and reflectors that had exploded.

Diver from Poland will try to map these unexplored parts. Starnawski lowered yesterday to a depth of 188 meters where with the help of Macedonian divers placed a so-called habitat required for decompression.

According to speleologist's estimates, Matka Vrelo is even 330 meters deep, and if further research confirms this, and it will be the deepest underwater cave in the world.

That record is now held by Bushmen hole, underwater cave in south Africa and it reaches 282 meters.

Matka lake, the entrance to the Vrelo cave, has been created by damming the river Treska with semicircular dam. It is 4o meters deep and seems scary and creepy at the times. Along the lake, a narrow walking path has been pierced through the rocks, and it is quite a challenge to walk it, only the bravest do it.
