Corporal Srdjan Ristic from the 2nd Battalion of the Central Logistics Base Army of Serbia on Saturday in the hall "Park" in Kragujevac, did 2,370 push-ups, scoring a new Guinness world record in the discipline of "push-ups in one hour".

Representative of the Serbian Army, colleagues from the unit, the members of the club of martial arts and numerous citizens were present for the record.

Srdjan Ristic- thirty four year old was preparing for this project for a long time, and and he is overjoyed with the outcome, reported by the Ministry of defence. 

- I have accomplished my dream, I did 2,370 push ups in an hour, which is more than the current Guinness World Record. I practiced hard and this is the crown of my work. I must mention that I had trouble breathing, but that the strong will and motivation were stronger. I managed to fight the problem - said Ristic.

As he added, he had great support during his preparation. His family, coach Cedomir Jovanovic, his colleagues from the unit, Central Logistics Base and sponsors.

- In the future I plan to continue to train and prepare for the new record, this time in the discipline ''pull-ups''. I would like to thank everyone who came tonight to support me. Also, I'd use the opportunity to say to younger population to spend more time outdoors, playing sports, and that with strong will, motivation and discipline every goal is achievable - said Ristic in a statement.

Corporal Srdjan Ristic has been in the Serbian Army since 2004. He started in Grosnica, in the 24th battalion for special operations, after which in 2007 he was assigned to the Kraljevo.

Since 2009, Ristic is a member of the Central Logistics Base. He is actively involved in sports since high school.

He came in contact with push ups for the first time in the fifth grade of elementary school, in physical check. Setting a record, he had no doubts that he will become the world record holder in this discipline, added in the statement.

According to Guinness rules, the record in one of the disciplines is set in two ways: arrival of the commission or by recording the activity of cameras according to established rules, and Ristic decided on the second.

After sending the material and verification of the video from the Guinness commission, the Serbian army will have "world number one" in push ups, discipline that is crowned by endurance and strength, added from the Ministry of defense.
