- Somebody has put something in the channel and that is killing the fish and the crabs. This happens all all the time and then it is covered up. EU gives us money for purifiers, instead of making a nice, good prison for the people who keep constantly doing this and to lock them up, because there is no other way - said Kurjacki.

There is a conformation from the scene that the Fish Guard service is on the channel, they go around the shore with boats to warn potential fisherman not to catch the fish and distribute it on the market.

Kurjački urged authorities not to pass the responsibility, and urged citizens not to buy the fish, which can bring health problems.

- The problem needs to be solved, because every year its the same, Vojvodina Water pays the penalty, and nothing changes - he added.

Public Water Management Company Water Vojvodina announced today that the professional services of that company on the sight and they "closely monitor the situation on the channel downstream of the Srbobran", which the stunned fish was noticed yesterday and due to lack of oxygen it swam to the water surface.

Although locals say that this is a huge amount of fish, Vojvodina Waters announced that "there are sporadic samples of dead fish."

Authorities have been informed, and water samples have been taken from three places. By pumping greater amounts of clean water from Kucure the conditions will improve, said from Vojvodina Waters, but they add it is not the permanent solution.

- Long term solution will follow when the constant pollution of channel network stops and when the channel going through Vrbas is cleaned, because contamination from that part of the channel causes problems downstream - written in the announcement.
