A citizen of Serbia, who was arrested last night in Germany after he started a fight on board a Lasta bus that was traveling to Belgrade, should make a statement before an investigating judge today.

While waiting for the decision on his detention, the police revealed new details of the drama that took place last night on the highway between Hilpoltstein and Greding, because of which traffic was suspended for hours. At first, it was believed that the suspect took three drivers hostage, but it turned out that the drivers stayed with him inside the bus of their own accord to save the passengers.

The police announced that the Serbian citizen has not been charged with kidnapping, but with attempted murder, and they clarified what exactly happened yesterday on the bus that was traveling to Serbia.

As they state, around 5 pm, they received a call that a physical confrontation was taking place inside a bus on the highway, after which the vehicle stopped. The passengers then got out, and it was said that three drivers and a man who allegedly had a weapon remained in the bus.

"There were 11 citizens of Serbia and three drivers in the bus, also Serbian citizens. They were traveling to Belgrade. The results of the investigation show that the suspect (30) out of the blue attacked a young man who was sitting in front of him and who was asleep at the time. He threw the young man (20) on the floor of the bus and started stepping on his head. The suspect also hit a young woman (24) in the face. During the attack, he made death threats against the passengers and said many other incoherent things," the police announced.

The police also said that the injured young man was treated in the hospital, and that the woman suffered minor bodily injuries.

"After the clash, the bus stopped in the stopping lane. The passengers left the bus and informed us about everything, while the suspect remained in the vehicle with the three drivers," said the police.

As announced, police officers managed to get in touch with the drivers, who got out of the vehicle at one point, after which the 30-year-old suspect was arrested.

"The suspect did not resist arrest," the police stated.

No weapons were found on the attacker, neither during the search of the vehicle nor in his luggage.

"During the questioning, we learned that the drivers stayed with the suspect in the bus on their own initiative," the police announced.

A citizen of Serbia is charged with attempted murder and will be questioned by an investigating judge today, after which a decision on his detention will be made. So far, there is no evidence that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances.

All passengers from the bus and the drivers were taken care of and spent the night in a hotel, and it is expected that they will leave for Belgrade today.

This information was also confirmed by the director of the Laste carrier. He said that he could not comment on the case, because a report from the police is still awaited.

"Everything is in best order, the drivers are on their way to Serbia. We don't know what exactly happened, we are waiting for the drivers to come home and talk to them," the director said.

Meanwhile, media reports say that the suspect's initials are F.K., and that while he was on the bus, he way saying, "Allah ordered me to do this, because otherwise I will be attacked."
