A mural dedicated to Ratko Mladic has been destroyed in Njegoseva Street in Belgrade. White paint was thrown over it.

On Tuesday night, a police cordon blocked Njegoseva Street and all approaches to Ratko Mladic's mural in order to prevent activists, citizens, NGO representatives, but also members of opposition parties, who came to support activist and former MP Aida Corovic from approaching the mural. Last night's protest ended without major incidents, but, as announced, it will continue in the coming days.

Earlier, plainclothes police officers detained Aida Corovic after she threw a few eggs at the mural. She was released before 7 pm.

The mural with the image of the former commander of the Army of the Serb Republic, Ratko Mladic, who was sentenced to life in prison by the Hague Tribunal, was painted this summer on the corner of Njegoseva and Alekse Nenadovica streets.
