Onions are the king of Belgrade wholesale market this week: Melons from Honduras have also arrived

The previous week at Veletrznica Beograde (Belgrade Wholesale Market) saw an increase of 38% in turnover.

After a long time, the top spot in terms of trading volume went to onions that doubled the turnover compared to the previous period, followed by apples, cabbage, carrots and lettuce.

In addition to onions, the turnover in beets and potatoes was three times higher. The increase in the turnover of imported goods is also noticeable.

Serbian-grown beetroot, which is very current in this period, is used in salads, can be consumed cooked, raw or as a juice. A very healthy food, rich in vitamins C and B, and minerals.

The price of beetroot ranges from 40 to 50 dinars per kilogram. A melon from Honduras, also available from Veletrznica Beograd, costs 350 dinars.
