Serbia and Saudi Arabia sign agreement on air traffic: Establishment of direct flights possible

Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic and Executive Vice President of Air Transport and International Cooperation (General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saudi Arabia), Ali Mohammed Rajab today signed the Agreement on Air Traffic between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement allows for the possibility of establishing direct flights between the two countries' capitals, which creates the basis for more intensive cooperation and further development of economic relations between Serbia and Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has announced.
"This step will further strengthen Belgrade's position as an important regional traffic hub, and at the same time contribute and provide an incentive for further improvement of relations between our countries, primarily in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and mining," said Minister Sofronijevic.
She stressed that Serbia, despite numerous domestic and global challenges, managed to preserve macroeconomic stability, which results in one of the highest economic growth rates in Europe, and that it is important to continue at this pace especially bearing in mind that in 2027, Serbia will host the prestigious EXPO event, while on the other hand, Saudi Arabia is preparing for EXPO 2030, which provides numerous opportunities for successful cooperation between the two countries.
"We thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the partnership and the trust, and we believe that this is the beginning of a new, dynamic period in relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," Minister Sofronijevic concluded.
