A 3-year-old boy suffered a fracture of his left leg when he was hit by a car in Rasadnik Street in Nis yesterday around 4:25 pm, the police in this southern Serbian town said.

A 41-year-old man was behind the wheel of the Peugeot that hit the boy.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was very lucky in this accident because he ran out of a yard and into the road, falling directly under the wheels of the car, which could easily have resulted in his death.
The driver, they said, had no chance to stop and avoid the accident because everything happened in just a few seconds.
