"We are still in shock. My father is recovering physically, but mentally... Only he knows how he feels," famous kayaker Milenko Zoric, the son of a brutally beaten teacher in Backa Palanka, has told Telegraf.

On May 8, B.M., a former student of a high school in that town, brutally physically assaulted teacher S.Z. inside the school premises, causing serious physical injuries. The teacher even had his head bones fractured.

Milenko Zoric told our portal that his father was released from the hospital to continue treatment at home and will most likely not need surgery, unless the bones fail to heal on their own.

"My father tells me that he is physically fine. He is in shock, like the rest of us. He has never experienced anything similar in his career. And he should retire in October. He is disappointed," says Milenko.

What gave them hope and meant something to the family was the call they received from the mother of the teenager who committed the crime.

"The mother called and asked about my father's health, how he was doing, how he was recovering. It's not easy for her either," said Milenko.

A protest was held in Backa Palanka as a show of solidarity with the teacher who was beaten in his workplace.
