Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as the new head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Vucic also expressed his belief that Serbia will have the same good cooperation with him as with late Pope Francis.
Vucic made this statement answering a journalist's question last night in Moscow, after a dinner hosted by President Vladimir Putin for world leaders on the eve of Victory Day.
"I would like to congratulate the new pope and I believe that we will have the same good cooperation in that state-legal sense as we had with Pope Francis until now," said Vucic.
US Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected on Thursday as the new pope and head of the Roman Catholic Church.
