The Assembly the provisional institutions in Pristina on Wednesday did not elect a new government, which was proposed by PM-designate Gllauk Konjufca, who is a member of the Self-Determination party.

56 deputies voted in favor of the proposed government, four abstained, while 53 were against.

The Assembly in Pristina has 120 seats, and in order for the government to be elected, it is necessary to construct a majority of 61 deputies.

In his presentation, Konjufca asked for a vote in favor of his proposed cabinet in order to avoid early elections, claiming that without this the crisis would deepen and that it would be "arrogant" to hold elections again.

Serb List deputy Igor Simic said that he would not vote for the government proposed by Konjufca, and that Albin Kurti will be remembered "for creating a dictatorship".

"We are going to elections and you will have the citizens' response to everything you have done. The Serb List does not vote for what Albin Kurti has prepared. You have made a hundred decisions against the Serb people, you have not brought anything good to Albanians, Bosniaks, Gorani, Egyptians, Romani, or any other people (in Kosovo and Metohija) either. What you are remembered for, you will be remembered for is violating every possible regulation," said Simic.

Representatives of ethnic Albanian opposition parties said that they would not vote for the government proposed by Konjufca, as they were unwilling to participate in Self-Determination's "theatrical performance" - since they claim that party is already preparing for the election campaign.

On October 26, Self-Determination's candidate for PM Albin Kurti failed to secure a majority.

According to the so-called constitution of the provisional institutions, if the government is not elected in the second attempt, snap elections are called, which then must be held within 40 days.

Elections for the Assembly of provisional Pristina institutions were held on February 9, and the Assembly president was elected only on August 26, after dozens of attempts to conclude the constituent session, and after the constitutional court had to intervene with its rulings.

In the February 9 elections, Self-Determination won 48 seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo 24, the Democratic League of Kosovo 20, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Nisma initiative eight.

The Serb List has nine seats, the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival one, while the remaining 10 belong to representatives of other non-majority communities.
