President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that parliamentary elections will be called before the end of the term of the current convocation of the Serbian National Assembly.

Vucic also stated that local elections will be held in several municipalities in Serbia in five to six months.

"They will get snap parliamentary elections. Before the end of the mandate of the current convocation of the parliament, we will go to those elections and then people will have the opportunity to judge the performance of every one of us," Vucic said in the Palace of Serbia, answering a journalist's question.

The president added that in those elections citizens will decide "whether they want to live in a decent and normal Serbia".

"For me, elections are relevant, and of course we do the research thoroughly and seriously. To me, that does not serve as something that I should rely on. One must know what the reality is, you have to fight, do your best," Vucic said, commenting on the opinion polls that indicate his high approval rating has not changed over the last year.

Vucic stressed that the "opponents' plans and programs" must be looked at during the election campaign - and then a "better plan and program" must be provided.
