Vucic: European Parliament delegation is coming to Belgrade uninvited, they decided when to visit Serbia
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that a delegation of the European Parliament (EP) is coming to visit Belgrade uninvited and added that he will be instead meeting with important people who wish Serbia well.
Vucic was in Abu Dhabi when he was asked to comment on accusations that he and President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic are "running away from meetings with the EP delegation coming to Belgrade." Vucic replied that this delegation has not been invited (by Serbian authorities) nor has it informed anyone about the visit."The haters of Serbia sat down and agreed - 'we will go to Belgrade on the 20th or so.' They did not ask or inform us. I can't show up in your home even for your slava or the New Year's celebration if you don't invite me first. We did not invite them," said President Vucic, after attending the official opening of the Sustainability Week 2026 event in the United Arab Emirates.
He further stressed that the EP delegation is coming uninvited and that they decided on their own to visit Belgrade, while his own obligations for that period were set five months ago.
"One, they are coming uninvited. Two, they decided on their own to visit Serbia during that period. During that period, since five months ago, I have scheduled commitments in Davos, which will be very important and you will see who I will meet with there," added Vucic.
The president stated that he does not want to meet with the rapporteur of the European Parliament for Serbia, Tonino Picula, nor with MEP Vladimir Prebilic, with any of those who wish Serbia ill.
"Third and important thing, so that they can't say that I'm avoiding them. I'm not avoiding anything. I don't want to meet with Picula, with Prebilic, or any of them, I have no intention of wasting time. I have much more time for meetings with important people and to be deciding about the fate of Serbia with those who wish Serbia well, rather that with those who wish it ill. So I don't want to see them (EP delegation). Consider this as me being in Serbia, but not wanting to talk to them," Vucic concluded.
