Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said today that the plan is for MOL to take over 56 percent of ownership in NIS (Petroleum Industry of Serbia) from Gazprom Neft, after that, Serbia will get an additional 5 percent from MOL, as well as that MOL and ADNOC, through their joint company, would eventually have a little over 51 percent in the NIS ownership structure.

Djedovic Handanovic told TV K1 that in the new MOL-ADNOC company, MOL will definitely be the majority owner and that the negotiations are now being done above all with MOL.

"Gazprom Neft is selling to MOL, as the main buyer, and behind that there should be a joint company between MOL and ADNOC. They will arrange their relations, that is, the percentages. Those negotiations have not yet been completed, so I don't have precise information, but ADNOC's share is not insignificant," Djedovic Handanovic told TV K1.

When asked if a new company between MOL and ADNOC will be created when the US Treasury Department's OFAC approves the agreed upon arrangement, the minister said that it will either go that way, or that this will be done in parallel, as well as that all will be presented transparently to the US administration.

"In that sense and after that, Serbia would buy that 5 percent from MOL, but if it all happens simultaneously, possibly from MOL and ADNOC together. In any case, we are negotiating with MOL at the moment, and we are aware that in the background, of course, we are also talking with ADNOC. They are creating a joint company," she said.

When asked who is selling their percentage to the Arabs (ADNOC), Djedovic Handanovic said that MOL and ADNOC will have a total of about 51.15 percent ownership in NIS and that they will participate with a certain percentage in the joint company.

She noted that the owner of that 51 percent will be a joint company, not MOL or ADNOC individually.

"But in that company, the majority owner is MOL and we are negotiating with MOL, they will be making decisions as the majority owner," said Djedovic Handanovic.
