40 people injured in 85 traffic accidents in 24 hours in Serbia: Police issue warning!
As many as 40 people have been injured in traffic accidents in Serbia over 24 hours, the police have said.
The Traffic Police Administration is warning the participants in traffic to pay attention to fatigue and speeding, and is appealing for special caution during the tourist season.
85 traffic accidents took place on the roads throughout Serbia in just 24 hours, when 40 people were injured, the Traffic Police Administration said. Such a high number of accidents during just one day reminds once again of the risks that come with the peak summer tourist season, when traffic frequency is at its maximum.
Regarding this concerning statistics, the traffic police reminds that a large scale preventive campaign called "Drive rested" is underway. The main goal of this is to raise the awareness of all road users about the dangers of driving while tired.
"We appeal to all drivers to plan their trip, to set off on the road only rested and to take regular and necessary breaks while driving. Compliance with traffic regulations, and especially speed limits, is crucial in order to prevent accidents on our roads during the summer months," the Traffic Police Administration stated.
The police especially stressed that extra caution is needed when there are children in the vehicle. Drivers are urged to avoid risky and unnecessary overtaking, as well as to fully adapt their speed to road conditions. Risky behavior behind the wheel drastically increases the probability of an accident, but also the severity of the consequences.
The appeal to all road users ends with a clear message from the Traffic Police Administration: comply with the rules and save lives - so that we can all reach our destinations safely.
