SNIPER, MASKS AND 8 KILOS OF COCAINE: Large operation in Belgrade reveals arsenal, was murder planned?
An extensive operation carried out last night by the Criminal Investigations Police Department (UKP), the Belgrade police, and the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, resulted in the arrest of three persons suspected of selling narcotics and of unauthorized possession of weapons and explosives, it has been was confirmed to Telegraf.rs this morning.
During the operation, the police seized eight kilograms of high-purity cocaine, whose market value is estimated at tens of thousands of euros. However, what is of particular concern is the arsenal of weapons and equipment found in the suspects' possession, which indicates that the group may have been preparing more serious crimes.
Arsenal for killings?
During the search of the locations used by those arrested, police officers, in addition to narcotics, also found two kilograms of explosives and several hand grenades, a sniper rifle and accompanying pieces of weapons, silicone masks (usually used to conceal identity during the commission of criminal acts), as well as special equipment: Micro cameras, a drone, and even police car lights.
"The equipment found, especially silicone masks and the sniper rifle, indicates that this is not just about drug trafficking, but that this is a highly professional criminal group," said a source close to the investigation.
Further procedure
On order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, the suspects will spend up to 48 hours in police custody.
They will then be brought in for questioning, as the investigation continues to determine if this group is connected to any of the previously unexplained attacks or planned murders in the region.
