Chinese President Xi Jinping writes to Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has received a letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping, in which the Chinese leader emphasizes that he attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Serbian relations, as well as that he was deeply impressed by Vucic's responsibility towards his country and people, demonstrated during his recent visit to China.

"I attach great importance to the development of Sino-Serbian relations and I am ready to maintain regular communication with you and together lead the building of the community of China and Serbia with a common future in the new era, towards more achievements, in order to contribute even more to the well-being of the people of our two countries," Xi said in the letter, according to a statement from the Serbian president's press service.

Xi pointed out that the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China, which he presented to Vucic during his visit to China, represents a sign of long-term and deep friendship and testifies to the progress in the development of relations between the two countries.

"During your recent successful state visit to China, we exchanged opinions in detail and reached a broad consensus, which resulted in a new plan to continuously promote the building of the China-Serbia community with a common future in the new era. We cordially discussed the friendship between China and Serbia, exchanged opinions about state governanace and the international situation, spending a pleasant time together, and your responsibility towards your country and people impressed me deeply. I wish you good health and success in your work, prosperity and progress to the friendly Serbia, and peace and happiness to its people," Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in his letter.

Vucic was on a state visit to China from May 24 to 28 on Xi's invitation, during which he held a series of bilateral meetings with top Chinese state officials, as well as representatives of leading companies and institutions.

During the visit, Vucic received the Friendship Medal, presented by his Chinese counterpart, when he stressed that this recognition holds special value for him and that he sees it as a symbol of strong friendship and mutual respect between Serbia and China.

"I receive this medal not only on my own behalf, but also on the behalf of the people of Serbia, a proud and dignified nation that has fought for its freedom for centuries," Vucic said at the time.
