Vucic: There is still no answer from opposition about whether they will concede if they lose elections

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today that if the "United Serbia" electoral list is defeated in parliamentary elections, they will extend their hand to the "blockaders" and congratulate them on their victory the same evening - but that they have not yet stated whether the same will happen in if they lose.

"I have already announced to the public that if our list 'United Serbia' is defeated in the elections, the same evening we will extend a hand to the blockaders and congratulate them on the victory. However, we have not received an answer as to whether the same will happen vice versa," Vucic announced in a post on Instagram.

He added that they are still waiting for that answer.

"Dear citizens, a few days ago I asked a simple question. First of all, I stated that if, and as soon as we lose the elections, we will recognize the results, accept them, congratulate and extend our hand to the winners, who they say have the support of two-thirds of the citizens of Serbia. We only asked for a short, simple answer. We asked that, if things turn our different, that the other side commits, in accordance with elementary, basic democratic principles, to congratulate those to whom they lose an elections," Vucic said in a video post.

He added that several days have passed but there has been no response.

"It's impossible that you will recognize elections if you win but will treat them as undemocratic and unfair if you do not receive the support from the people. It must be the same in any case. After all, the last poll is no longer 10 percent to your advantage but 2 percent, but you're certainly winning. And we, even after your latest poll, are telling you: We will extend our hand after minus 2 or minus 10 (losing by that percentage), whatever you want, after minus 0.5," said Vucic.

He added that only a sense of responsibility, seriousness and honesty towards the citizens of Serbia is being asked of the political opponents.

"If you lose, will you extend your hand to those who defeated you? An important question. We are waiting for an answer," Vucic concluded.
