Vice-President of the Serbian Assembly Marina Ragus said today that the session of the Assembly, which President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabic has announced for the end of August, will most likely be the last or penultimate before the Assembly is dissolved, and early parliamentary elections called.

"The exact date of the session will be announced by the president of the National Assembly, it will certainly be at the end of August because we have many important laws for our citizens (on the agenda)," Ragus told Tanjug.

Commenting on President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stating that early parliamentary elections could be called in the next 15 to 20 days, while the election campaign would last between 45 and 60 days, Ragus said that these are normal legal terms and added that the elections will most likely be held in the second half of October or early November.

She added that the political program and plan of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is very clear to everyone and pointed out that these are very important elections where citizens should decide what kind of Serbia they want in the coming period.

Ragus pointed out that SNS offers predictability and financial security.

"Today we are paying out pensions from stable sources, while when we came to power we didn't have money in the account for pensions. Today we have an economic growth rate that is one of the highest in Europe, we keep the deficit below 3 percent, we have the highest level of gold reserves and that speaks to the correct management of the state," she pointed said.

Ragus also stated that Serbia has a lot of space to improve the everyday life of citizens, which was evident after the president's visit to the southeast and southwest of Serbia, where he went to hear from the citizens what they want as a solution to their problems.

"I believe that the (next) government will be much smaller and more efficient, that there will be a lot of operational bodies that will react quickly and efficiently. We won't impose sanctions on Russia, we will not become a member of NATO, we are militarily neutral. Today, we have an excellent foreign policy because we have no problems with the world's biggest powers, economic growth will continue and the living standards of citizens will improve," said Ragus.

She pointed out that SNS will present certain changes and reforms in many areas of society during its campaign.

According to this Serbian Assembly official, the goal of SNS is to increase the standard and predictability of life in Serbia so that citizens can live better, but also so that as many citizens as possible, who are now living abroad, can return to Serbia.

Ragus added that it would be good if the election campaign went in an orderly manner, with various programs and ideas presented, but that she believes that it will not be the least bit pretty and that many will opt for a negative campaign.

"We will not do that, but we will talk about the results and plans for the future, with the assumption that the next term will be full, i.e. four years, because that is a predictable period when you can plan and deliver results to the citizens," said Ragus.
