The Montenegrin Party announced today that it will not participate in early parliamentary elections in Serbia scheduled for October 25, and that it is instead giving its political support to the Student List.

The party said in a statement that this decision is a continuation of a clear political position that Serbia is need of profound democratic changes.

It added that the Montenegrin Party previously participated independently in state, provincial and local elections several times, but that this time they believe that "the priority is to create conditions for a change of government and democratization of Serbian society" - in which, "ethnic minority communities will exercise their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws in reality, not just formally".

The Montenegrin Party further said it remains committed to the fight for a democratic Serbia, the rule of law and the full realization of the rights of Montenegrin and all other national minority communities.
