With this plea for help, the Center for Prevention and Cessation of pathological gambling, "Life is not a game", is being called more often by more and more Novi Sad residents of different ages, but also residents of other cities, writes "Večernje novosti"
To prove that the situation is alarming is testified by the research surveys done last year and this year among students of three primary and three high schools in Novi Sad.
Of these 790, aged 11 to 20 years, almost half - 45 percent play games of chance. Of those surveyed, 48 are pathological gamblers, while 20 percent (158 of them) are problematic.
The fact that the youngest respondent who is a pathological gambler is only 12 years old makes the entire case even more dramatic, because the child plays roulette with his father, and he began playing the slots when he was less than ten years old, with his brother and dad.
In the world of gamblers, students usually take part out of pure curiosity and for fun, other however, want to increase their budget, while 14 percent of those interviewed said they gamble out of boredom.
