This woman comes from a pious family, who was proud of their little girl, because she chose a clergyman as a husband.
- He was nice and quiet. We knew each other only a few months when we decided to get married. I was happy. I believed that he was an excellent choice, because I fell in love and I never doubted his intentions - M. L. tells her story saying she received her first slap in the face when their first child was a year old.
From that moment, the abuse did not stop.
- In the phone book, I was registered as "cow". When we would sit on the couch, he would put pillows between us, so as not to have to watch me. How many times did I kneel and beg for him to tell me why he did all this. He would insult me, even in front of guests, but no one dared to confront him - says the unhappy woman and states that her ex-husband was an exemplary in his work, but not everyone respected him because they knew how he behaved towards his family.

When M.L. confessed to her father, at first he advised her not to divorce from her husband because he was a priest.
- I turned to the competent Bishop for help. He told me that I had to keep the family and serve my children and husband and that I could not go against it. I asked him in what sacred book does it say a man can abuse a woman - says M. L.
Her marriage lasted 17 years, and beatings were a daily occurence. Their four children watched what he did to her.
- He told them that they could kick me because I was worthless. When one of my sons started to adopt this model of behavior, I took him to a psychiatrist - says M. L. who decided to escape from her bully at all costs.
However, the court ruled that the children stay with him, even though the kids were the target of his abuse.
