Floods on KOSOVO: Human lives are endangered, roads are blocked

Abundant rain has caused floods in many areas of Kosovo, and besides grave damage on buildings and houses, the rain has blocked the roads and endangered human lives.

Media from the city of Priština are reporting that the rain has blocked many vehicles going towards the village of Kišna Reka.

Similar situation is in the municipalities of Štimlje, Suva Reka, and the city of Prizren.

The Kosovo president, Atifete Jahjaga had an urgent meeting with leaders of municipalities endangered by the consequences of recent floods.

- I spoke with Mimoza Kusari Ljilja, Sokolj Bašot, Imri Ahmeti, Ragip Begaj, Salji Aslanaj, and Naim Ismaljij, leaders of municipalities of Đakovica, Lipljan, Mališevo, Suva Reka, and Štimlje, in order to gather information about what is happening in those areas, about the damage done and the measures taken - wrote Jahjaga on her Facebook profile.

Firefighters and the Kosovo police force are already on the field.

Representatives of the municipalities state that emergency services are ready to offer their assistance.
