Thanks to the strong BMW chassis, this family from Turkey survived crashing into an abyss

Horrific images from the scene of a traffic accident in the Sicevo Gorge last night prove that a four-member Turkish family, who drove off the road at this spot and into a 15-meter-deep ravine, where their vehicle ended up on  railroad tracks - was incredibly lucky to have survived.

The fact that the accident happened in the only place on this section of the road that doesn't have a protective barrier speaks to how close they had been to dying.

Marks found at the scene show that the Turks traveling in a BMW driven by M.D. (44) got hit from behind by a Volvo with Bulgarian nationals inside. The Volvo then pushed the BMW forward, while the Turk was attempting to brake, looking death in the eye - until his car plunged into the ravine.

The driver's wife was the one who called for help, barely able to tell the police where they were. The family was later transferred to a hospital in Nis, where the driver was found to be unharmed, while the woman was hospitalized for orthopedic injuries.

Also, one of their two children, aged ten and 13, who were in the car is now undergoing treatment at the Children's Surgery Clinic for a broken leg, while the other is only slightly injured.

The non-life-threatening injuries, given the severity of the accident, were made possible by the fact that the family was traveling in a BMW vehicle with a very strong chassis.

The BMW landed on the Nis-Dimitrovgrad railway, and fortunately at a time when no train was passing there. Traffic on this stretch of the highway is still suspended, waiting for a crane to arrive and lift the car.

The police and Serbian Railways workers are at site in order to safely remove the vehicle from the tracks.
