The beating victim who took revenge with his father in Vranje: How Serbia's south became Wild West

The story of a bloody Saturday in Vranje, when two fights and running over with a car occurred, has stunned all of Serbia. The revenge over a young man's fight almost ended tragically, in the middle of the street, in front of the passers-by, and it's fortunate that nobody else was hurt - none of the people who were in front or inside the bakery.

A photo of the injured young man was provided to Telegraf by the portal DN017, who posted it on his Facebook profile.

"What you saw in the videos is only a part of the whole story. The young man, N.S., was first brutally beaten by the security of the cafe Plato 017 and thrown in a park. When he got home and his father saw him all bloodied, they got in the car and did what they did. It's really fortunate that no one was killed when the car hit the sidewalk," a Vranje resident tells us.

As he says, it's sad that this is how people who are otherwise not considered to be violent in their neighborhood deal with each other. Our interlocutor wonders how it's possible for a cafe to be open at half past four in the morning, and if there is another way the security can be done other than by using brute force - for example, by calling the police.

"Whatever that young man did in the cafe, is the solution to beat him so brutally? I'm not saying he's great, but there's another way to solve the problem. It's also unusual that some cafes in Vranje must obey regulations strictly, while others are open until the dawn," the local man said.

And the video of "the justice" is so brutal, it's hard to find any justification for this father-son move. They literally tried to kill the security workers by running them over.

The fact that the law of the jungle is in force Vranje is evident from the numerous comments sent by our readers.

"But the way the old man ran over the bald guy, well done. Such scum only understands the language of violence. Who knows how many people they beat up when they're moving in a pack, but it's a double edge sword, at least that's what old folk said to me," one of our readers wrote.

"Only a parent understands the action of the revenger. Newspapers say that those who got beaten rule Vranje, well, the state that is ruled by law, this the result," said one of the comments.

"Of course, when he sees his bloodied son, some boundaries break down and a man can't react rationally, but it's difficult to accept the qualifications he was given, that's he's a king, that violence is the only way to stand up to the bullies, and the like. The following comment best shows where revenge can lead.

"I don't know who's to blame and what the reason is, but only a psychopath can beat a man with the intent to kill him, the intent is also there when he drives the car into him, and probably there's some fractures. If guilty, it was enough to hit him a few times in across the back with a baton. Well, now.. the smartest thing for them would be to go inside as soon as the dusk falls until they go to jail because this guy is going to return the favor only much worse, not personally, but he also has a 'dad', a bro and those similar to him. What have they achieved now? They'll serve time and always look across their shoulder. If this one is stubborn, and they go to prison, it will be enough to send them a message, to think about what will happen to their family, it will psychologically destroy them... stupidity costs a lot," our reader writes.

And of course, nobody knows what happened before the fight in the cafe.

"People, it's not all the way you think. It's not an idyllic story, like, my kid went out to a cafe, and my kid was beaten for no reason. And then I give my life for the kid! Well, you should know, that precisely the person who was hit by the car that night helped the 'son' earlier," claims one of our readers.
