The Croatian Hydrographic Institute measured on November 12, 2019 at 4 pm a record wave in the Adriatic. This wave was recorded in the area of ​​the city of Dubrovnik near the island of St. Andrija.

The maximum wave height was Hmax = 10.87m with the corresponding significant wave height Hs = 4.75m (sea state 6) and the period T = 10s. The wave came from the direction of Dirp = 167.1, according to the official website of the Croatian Hydrographic Institute.

The portal Index writes that especially in Dalmatia, the strong southern wind carried everything in front of it, ripping out trees and throwing them on cars and roads.

Many roads are blocked and there has been big material damage.

The area of ​​Istria was also under very strong, gale-force southern wind last night.

As of this morning the wind has been weakening and changing direction to southwest and west.

According to Index, wind gusts that exceeded 140 kilometers per hour in the Dubrovnik area yesterday, with a hurricane-force strike of 134.28 kmph recorded in Split, at the official DHMZ station in Marjan.

They say this is the third highest speed of the southern wind officially recorded in Split in the last 60 years.
