"I share political goals with Vucic, that's why I proposed a coalition": Dacic on upcoming elections

He stressed that he did not propose a coalition because he fears election results, but because of unity of state policy, which Vucic himself said the other day, urging the creation of a broad national coalition

I didn't propose a coalition with Zorana, but with Vucic, SPS leder Ivica Dacic responded today to SNS Vice President Zorana Mihajlovic, when she said that Dacic's Socialists would like to join a common election list with the SNS in order to maintain their positions more easily.

It is obvious that Zorana didn't understand something when it comes to my proposal to President Aleksandar Vucic, for the SNS and the SPS go to the polls together, Dacic says.

"I didn't propose a coalition with Zorana, but with Vucic and I will only talk to him about it. Once she has her own (election) list, she can respond to me like this," Dacic said in a written statement to Tanjug.

He stressed that he did not propose a coalition because he fears election results, but because of unity of state policy, which Vucic himself said the other day, urging the creation of a broad national coalition.

"Perhaps Zorana doesn't want to see the SPS in this broad national coalition, perhaps she has her favorites, maybe (opposition politicians) Djilas, Obradovic, Jeremic and others. After all, I didn't even address her, my message was related to Vucic with whom we share the same political goals in the interest of Serbia," said Dacic.

Dacic said yesterday that he had suggested to President Aleksandar Vucic the Socialists and the SNS should go to the upcoming elections together, while Mihajlovic, a vice president of the SNS, reacted to that statement by saying that she was not surprised by it, because, she says, everyone wants to be on the side of the winners.

"It's much easier and cheaper for Dacic to preserve his positions and the positions of his comrades from the SPS, than to go to the polls on their own. To paraphrase an earlier campaing slogan: 'When things get tough - Vucic'," Mihajlovic told the daily Blic.
