Grenell maintains his stance that taxes must be dropped, Haradinaj announces protests

Ramush Haradinaj's Alliance for the Future of Kosovo parliamentary group is announcing the possibility of protests if Pristina suspends that measure

The United States has reportedly decided to suspend all major investment projects in Kosovo until the government abandons its taxes (tariffs) on Serbian goods, RTK reports. That that this must happen before investments are made, is the message of Donald Trump's envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Richard Grenell.

This is not the first time that the United States has decided to "push Pristina into a corner" and force it to drop its taxes on Serbian products.

Ramush Haradinaj's Alliance for the Future of Kosovo parliamentary group is announcing the possibility of protests if Pristina suspends that measure.

Donald Trump's envoy, like his president, is not missing out on a day for diplomacy, even on Twitter.

Richard Grenell posted about the Kosovo taxes on goods from central Serbia as he responded to a former Kosovo official who saw money for projects in Kosovo allocated in Trump's budget.

"The tariffs must be dropped in order for investments to work. It’s fundamental," Grenell pointed out.

That tweet was preceded by a statement by his spokesman for RSE.

"The ambassador is pushing for them to drop the tariffs with no reciprocity. So, Kosovo should drop the tariffs on Serbian goods, and not implement reciprocity. So, no reciprocal measures. Not just suspend the tariffs but drop them entirely," Dick Custin said.

This statement came after a series of claims by Albin Kurti that he would abolish the taxes by replacing them with the principle of reciprocity.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that everything depends on Pristina and Albin Kurti.

"I hope they will abolish the taxes. This is important for the future, citizens, Serbs and Albanians, the only way to leave the past behind is through cooperation and dialogue, doing business together, creating jobs, having a different perspective," said the prime minister.
