Prime Minister of provisional Pristina institutions Albin Kurti says he does not believe US KFOR troops would leave Kosovo, adding that even if that happened, it would not be because of the taxes Pristina imposed on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kurti believes US KFOR should not withdraw from Kosovo, RTS is reporting.

"We saw a wish of the son of the US president, but it has nothing to do with the 100 percent tax. If the decision is made by the US president, it won't yet ne linked to the taxes. This is about a reduction of troops the US also did in Afghanistan and Syria," Kurti said.

Speaking yesterday during a local election campaign of his party in Podujevo, where the mayor will be elected, Kurti expressed his belief that the United States should "remain in all forms of the state in Kosovo, with the embassy, economy, culture, defense, and we are in favor of a strong partnership and alliance."

"We will be abolishing the 100 percent fee, replacing it gradually with reciprocity. We are convinced that this is the right path and the most rational and useful approach of our country," said Kurti.

Republican Senator David Perdue from Georgia wrote on Twitter yesterday that Pristina must do its part and abolish the taxes imposed on Serbia, and that, if Kosovo is not fully committed to peace, the US should reconsider its presence there.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Trump, supported Senator Perdue and tweeted that he agreed with this position.

"Agree. There are 650 US troops in Kosovo. Time to bring them home," he wrote on Twitter.
