Hall 1 of the Novi Sad Fair is ready to receive and accommodate persons with a milder clinical picture of the viral infection COVID-19 - if the need arises. Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic, Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Provincial Health Secretary Zoran Gojkovic today handed over the space for management to the Clinical Center of Vojvodina.

"As you can see Hall 1 is ready, equipped with all the necessary things. There are beds, linens, lockers, a dining room, leisure area with TV and library, toilets, the internet connection is provided and the Student Center will be delivering food."

"This is not a hotel, but a temporary field hospital, and it meets all the conditions for people to feel dignified, and most importantly, to be under the supervision of a doctor. The clinical center will now manage this space. Tomorrow we are finishing the Master Hall, and now everything depends on the self-control of all of us, to obey the instructions, so that the doctors have as little work as possible," said Mayor Vucevic.

Minister Vulin thanked the City and the Province for their dedicated work, stressing that they, together with the state, have been able to prepare this field hospital.

"It shows how the state of Serbia works and how much we are ready to help every citizen. This is a country where no one will be left behind, and through such joint action we show that there is firm and clear leadership. As of today, this is a hospital and it is no longer possible to just walk in here, because privacy and human health must be taken into account. There will be no activity except as directed by a doctor. I ask every citizen to think about what each of us can do to make as few people ill as possible. Without that, all the efforts of the state will be for nothing," Vulin stressed.

According to Zoran Gojkovic, training has been completed for the first group of doctors who will work in the Fair's halls, which will house patients with a milder clinical picture who do not require hospitalization.

Here's what it looks like, and especially how toilets have been made in these conditions:

"This type of isolation accommodation serves to ensure that those who are infected do not spread the infection to their family members. The space is adequately equipped with all protective means, and doctors from all over Vojvodina will be hired, primarily general practitioners and others who are not in hospitals in the first line of defense. If needed, patients will be referred to the Clinical Center from here. As of 7 o'clock this morning, 80 patients are treated at the Clinical Center of Vojvodina, six are on ventilators, three have been discharged for home treatment, and we have had five deaths since March 6, when the disease was first diagnosed in Serbia," said Gojkovic.

As previously announced, Hall 1 and the Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair have about 1,000 places, the City of Novi Sad has procured all the necessary equipment, except the beds that have been provided by the Serbian Army. Volunteers, Army members and the City of Novi Sad have all been engaged in equipping the facility.
