We visited the grave of Ratko Mladic one day after the funeral

The day after former general and Hague convict Ratko Mladic was buried with state honors, we visited his grave in the Topcider cemetery in Belgrade.

The tomb itself and the immediate surroundings are completely covered with a large amount of flowers. A large number of wreaths with ribbons and printed messages and last greetings are placed around the grave.

A large number of candles remained around the site, which people lit yesterday to pay their last respects.

Mladic was buried next to his daughter Ana, as was his wish.

Mladic died on August 27 at the age of 84. He died in the hospital in The Hague, where he was serving a life sentence handed down by the former ICTY.

His health had been poor for years, and he died due to a general deterioration after suffering several strokes.

The family accused the doctors in The Hague of negligent treatment and complained that they did not allow Mladic to spend his last days in Serbia.
