Vucic: I had no doubt Serbia would be among the most successful economies

"I expect Serbia to be among the most successful in Europe, I had no doubt, what the IMF announced today is not my assessment, but that of the IMF," said President Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic added that several days ago he was saying that Serbia would be the most successful country in Europe after the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic.

He told RTS that according to that estimate, Serbia has the highest growth, that is, the smallest decline, which will place it at the top in Europe.

"We carried out extraordinary reforms, we are well behaved, we have an excellent National Bank and public finances as a whole. We did not need money from the IMF and that shows that Serbia will be dealing with this more successful than all others," he said.

According to him, all this means that Serbia will be successful and that it will find it easier to overcome the crisis.

He recalled that Serbia was one of the few countries that did not reduce salaries and pensions.

"Dozens of businesspeople applied for the economic measures program. They also report to the Development Fund. And we will try to respond with corporate bonds as well," he said.

Vucic said that the national airline helped to return our citizens from abroad, but also to fly in equipment and cargo.
