Fireball above Belgrade shocks astronomer, too: He went over the videos, and is puzzled by one thing

On Tuesday night after 8 pm, videos of quite unusual, glowing objects in the sky above Belgrade exploded on social networks, upsetting the citizens.

Users were sharing this footage and saying that a "red, glowing ball" suddenly appeared in the sky. And it really happened. A fireball floated above the city, and it also managed to properly confuse astronomers in Belgrade.

Astronomer Branko Simonovic says that fireballs in the sky obove Belgrade have nothing to do with satellites, as they were obviously positioned too low in the sky. He was confused by the fact that the footage does not clearly show what it is.

"It's hard to say what this is about, because the footage is obscure, no details are seen, zoomed-in videos are useless because they are out of focus," he explained.

What, then, could it have been?

"At first glance it looks like a signal rocket fired by someone, it can stay in the sky for a long time, and maybe it's a hot air balloon, and the like, I say the first things that came to mind. 'UFO' is a legitimate term that refers to any flying object that is unidentified. If detected by flight control, it could be classified as a UFO," he explained, adding that UFOs are not necessarily alien in origin.

"On May 7 there will be a new launch of a Starlink satellite, in the early June a new batch will follow, until they complete the network of 12,000 satellites," Simonovic concluded in statement to TV Prva.

But he couldn't say for sure what the event in Belgrade was about was.
